Beach Inspired Interiors
The beach – it’s a place for rest and relaxation. We are lucky in this area to have quick access to some great East Coast beach towns. Many people from the DC metro area venture south to the Outer Banks, Myrtle, Hilton Head, Virginia Beach and Sandbridge, or north to Ocean City, MD, Bethany, or the Jersey Shore. The Chesapeake Bay also offers small beaches and is an attractive getaway for boaters of all sorts. In this area, the beach is a quick ride away!
With the plethora of destination beaches all around, there is a significant population that loves to bring a beachy vibe back home, for example in a sunroom or a master bedroom ‘retreat’. Coastal styles are often light and bright, with lots of natural textures mixed with summery blues, greens, yellows and pinks/oranges. A more nautical, Tommy Hilfiger-esque type color scheme would also include navy blue, bright red and white. Whatever your beach inspiration, coastal styles are a popular choice to bring that casual, summery feel into the home.
Take a look at the coastal inspirations below to get ideas about how to make your next redesign feel like a day at the beach!
{This beach inspired room features a creamy slip-covered sofa paired with a sisal rug. The monochromatic color scheme is calm and soothing}
{This cozy banquet seating area has a similar overall neutral color scheme and feel of the previous picture with pops of turquoise, green and orange}
{What a great entry area! Every beach house needs a place to store those beachy items – flip flops, towels, and some sandy accessories. The white washed finish of the paneling on the walls add a perfect touch of beachy mood}
{This room features built-in bookcases with a weathered finish. Notice the umbrella in front of the mirror…}
{I Love the white sheers on this porch…A beautiful way to catch some morning breezes}
{On this porch designed by Carter Kay, Kay creates a perfect conversation area out of two swinging benches}
{One thing I love about this beach house living room…the unobstructed view!}
{These Sea Life pillows from Pottery Barn are so fun and very affordable!}
{What a great coastal bedroom by Georgia Carlee!}

See you soon. Love you, Mom
Mom,
Reminds me of ma-maw and spending time at the beach with her. Miss her so. So nice seeing you last week and thanks again for sharing in our big Celebration!

Put that on my bucket list: to have and be able to decorated a beach house. :0 Great images.
Thanks for sharing.

Pam,
Sorry for the delay in responding, but I couldn’t agree more. I would like to have many houses (in my ideal world) that I could decorate in all different themes–and coastal is right up there. Oh well, maybe if I meet my prince (and he is rich), but until then, I can at least blog about my ideas, right? Anyway, thanks for your comment… keep ‘em coming.
XoXo,
Denise
Thanks for this post! I’m a big fan of nautical elements in design, and I have being seeing it a lot lately from anchors to the octopus.
I have seen a lot more movement here too. I think people want an escape from all the negative energy we are bombarded with in the media. Thanks for stopping in and keep the comments coming.
XoXo,
Denise
Gorgeous coastal inspired rooms, I love beach decor!
Jodie,
Thx for stopping by and posting your comment. I love coastal rooms too as they just are so darn relaxing. I checked out your website and will definitely check back the next time I have a beach theme I am working on. Keep the comments coming.
