Tile Explosion

After shopping with one of our clients for backsplash tile earlier this week, I was inspired to find some cool + contemporary tile projects to share with you. Tile is one of those elements in design that can add just the right interest, and it is a great product because the possibilities for design are literally endless. In showers, bathrooms, kitchens, fireplaces, and other areas, tile is a beautiful addition to almost any room in a home.

There are SO MANY great vendors creating stunning tile options out there – here’s a bit of what I love…

{This is a featured new tile in Ann Sack’s Beau Monde glass tile collection. This line has many vivid color options and produces glass tile that is more art than tile. Can you saw wow?}

{Ann Sacks has an extensive ceramic tile selection. I especially like this line by Michael S Smith – These geometric relief patterns are a gorgeous mix of old and new, and I have a small sample of this tile in our studio. It was a giveaway at an event I went to in DC last year. Ann Sacks converted it to a coaster.  I use it every day.}

{Another design from the Beau Monde collection by Ann Sacks, which has a DC location on M Street NW. This would make a great wall tile.}

{This Beau Monde shell pattern is very unique. I’ve never quite seen anything like it! I love the color combination.}

{Mosaic Tile is another vendor that has an extensive selection in this region. I’ve pulled a few pictures from their Idea Gallery to show new tile trends. Above is a contemporary gray/white tile scheme applied to the walls for a clean, modern look.}

{One interesting trend in tile is to mimic the look of hardwoods. Tile is easier to maintain than hardwood, so this is becoming a popular option for people who want the look of wood with the ease of tile. In this kitchen, the chevron pattern of this tile makes it feel historic}

{This photo shows an example of the texture you can get with a tile that looks like hardwood. What an innovative idea for a backsplash! I love the brown accent tile. What do you think?}

{Finally, the look of hardwood in a bedroom setting. I like the varying widths used in this space. You wouldn’t know this was tile would you?}

{I love the way this tile combination is used to add a splash of color.  It is like artwork for your walls.}

{So cute for a toddler or little kid’s bath, right?}

{Here is a more sophisticated, romantic example of a tile with a print. Even though this is a floral, the saturated brown tones balance the design and create depth. What a great focal wall for a bathroom!}

{This river rock tile from Porcelanosa is great for shower walls and floors}

{This stainless steel tile from Porcelanosa makes a great accent in bathrooms and kitchens as a wall tile}

{Here is actually a concrete tile from Waterworks, which was hand crafted by 27 artisans. Each tile is individually pressed and hand dried. Who knew concrete could look this good!}

{A mosaic tile from Waterworks called Aquarius Mosaic with Stripe. As an Aquarius, this tile is especially appealing to me… and it is even more incredible when installed on a large wall so that you can get the full effect of the repeat.}

{This ‘Monogram continuous corner‘ mosaic from Waterworks shows that with tile, you can really create jsut about anything}

    I would just LOVE an excuse to use some of that new Ann Sacks tile! Particularly the one you pictured from the Beau Monde collection…saw it in an ad and fell in love instantly. You have excellent taste! :)

      I couldn’t agree more! The stuff is ridiculous… I hope to use some of it in our professional athlete’s home, but not there yet with selections. Will keep you posted. Thanks for the comment…keep them coming.

      XoXo,

      Denise
