Custom Roman Shades That Are Washable, Yes, Washable!

November 23, 2010

This summer, RollEase European-style roman shades arrived on the market in the U.S. These shades have been established in Europe for over ten years and have just recently made the jump overseas.  I met with a representative of these shades earlier this week, and wow, what a revolutionary product!

Officially dubbed Inside European Roman Shades, presented by RollEase, these romans are like none before it. Here are a few reasons why they revolutionize the conventional roman shade and why I am excited to start sharing them with my clients:

1. Versatile: These shades can be made as wide as 165″ and up to 230″ long. They require less than one inch of depth for inside mounts (unheard of), and can be motorized.  They can also be made to fit unique spaces. For instance, if you have a wall of windows on a slope these shades can be made uniform to look seamless and linear even on the slope.

2. Customizable: One of the best qualities of these shades is that they are customizable. You first choose a pattern you like, for example, “Weeds” (shown to the right).  You then choose the colors you want on the shade.  To the right, you can see I’ve changed the colors using the user-friendly RollEase website where you can tour patterns and explore colors that interest you. There are over 125 colors to mix and match and several dozen patterns to choose from. If you don’t like any of the patterns, the manufacturer can upload a logo, text or image and make a completely unique shade for you that way as well!  RollEase offers solid shades too, which come in a wide variety of colors.

3. Machine Washable: Yes. That’s right. These shades not only look spectacular but they are perhaps the only roman shades and custom window treatments for that matter that are easy to take down and throw in the wash. They attach to the headrail with a velcro strip that holds tightly for daily use but is easy to pull off when you want to wash them. The weighted rods slide out of their pockets and the shade detaches from the string pulley system in one simple swoop. The fabric options are 100% polyester, which makes the fabric machine washable and shrink-free! The fact that these can be washed is my favorite aspect of this product because custom window treatments like these almost always have to be professionally cleaned. Accordingly, these shades are great for people with small children, pets and dust allergies because of the washable feature.

4. Fabric by the Yard: If you find the perfect colors and pattern for your room to create an elegant roman shade, RollEase offers the option to buy fabric by the yard; thus, if you wanted to add drapery panels to coordinate with the colors of your roman shade, you could effectively buy the fabric and match your custom roman shade exactly!

Same Pattern - You choose the colors you want!!

I was so impressed with these shades, that I purchased the sample books on the spot, so that I can start sharing this new resource with my clients as soon as possible!

They are only sold through trade members. I can see if there is someone in New York that can help you or we can sell them to you. Where are you located in New York?
