Girly Rooms to Go Gaga Over!

Everytime I get a call to do a young girl’s room, I get excited.  Whether an infant, pre-teen or teenager, working on the design of a girl’s room is exciting because I get to use colors, textures and ‘girly items’ that wouldn’t be appropriate for adult spaces.  Each time I work on one of these designs, I am thrown back to a time where I am fourteen years old and surrounded by all the fun and flirty items girls love.   Below are some of my favorite girly spaces.  I hope they inspire the young girl in all my female readers.

I absolutely love pink and polka dots. This room has both! And, the addition of green, black and white makes this room absolutely fabulous for the teenager who lives here.

I love the way the core colors in this room are used in the wall mural, the pillow fabrics and in the window shade fabric. This room is bold and beautiful with pops of red, green and lavender. The result: fantastic living quarters for this pre-teen girl!

This room incorporates this year's hottest color trend--Turquoise! This fabulous space uses the contrast of black and white polka dots against white bedding to lead the eye toward the beautiful oversized headboard. It is so stunning against the white walls and crisp green pillow shams. This room is inspiration for my future bedroom. I absolutely love the colors and the stunning headboard design!

The wall decal in this room creates a bold and striking focal point. The combination of the bold decal and pink accessories makes for a stunning little girls boudoir.

This is a close-up of one corner of this room. What a unique ottoman idea! Again, the wall decals play with the tree motif played out in the larger picture above.

Can you believe this nursery? The colors and textures are so sophisticated and modern, this room can easily transition into a guest bedroom one day when the nursery is no longer needed. I love the color palette, the textured ceiling and drum shade on the ceiling light fixture. This room is so pretty, I don't know that I would ever want to leave!

Love all the textures and bold contrasts in this room. The little one who sleeps here is one lucky little girl.

Tangerine and pale green aren't usually the colors we pick for a girl's bedroom. But, the hues selected for this little one's bedroom work. They are fun and flirty, while at the same time subtle enough to create a soothing sleeping environment. What a cute and well-designed space.

This room is a little girl's delight. I love the fabricated crown, which makes the twin beds look more grand. How feminine and pretty!

This reading nook is oh so girly and cute. Love the polka dots!

Pink, pink and more pink. I LOVE this room! From the geometric gimp pattern on the headboard to the black contrast banding on the roman shade, this room is absolutely a young girl's dream.

Turquoise and bright green elements juxtaposed against a white wall make this room 'come to life.' This sophisticated space is just right for a trendy teenage girl.

Another shot of this girl's room. Love the built in. Flirty and functional, and oh so cool!!! What girl wouldn't love this room?

Most girl's bedrooms are 'pretty in pink,' but not this boudoir. With purple walls, drapes and bedding, this room is oh so girly. I absolutely love the tufted sleigh bed.

Isn't this wall just the cutest? This shows what a little paint and imagination can do. How fun!

Love the peaceful green and simplicity of this girl's nursery. This room shows the impact an accent wall can have. It makes this room come to life.

How cute is this lounging nook? I love the combination of cool and warm tones in this space. They create a space that is both calm and exciting at the same time.

Check out this teenage girl's bathroom. Isn't it fabulous!

This bedroom is ideal for the more sophisticated pre-teen or teenager. From the canopy bed and sheers, to the pale pink walls and white bedding--this room is oh so girly!

This bedroom is certainly stunning with all the black and white. Check out the accent wall. Isn't it to die for? The color palette comes to life with the addition of the salmon colored pillows and the taupe textured neckroll pillow and bedskirt. The tufted headboard design is oversized to add drama, drawing attention and emphasis to the bed. This bedroom is certainly reserved for only the most discriminating and trendy teen.

This teen's sitting room is so fun and flirty! I love the way the canopy frames the sofa. It is fun, but also 'grown-up friendly.' Who wouldn't love hanging out with friends in this room?

This tranquil nursery sitting area is just what a little baby and young mother need after so many nights of unrest. The wall decal makes for a strong focal point and the leaf motif is carried into the pillows to balance out the space. How pretty!

This room is very colorful, but is well-suited for a lively young girl. I love the creative wall treatment that becomes a headboard. Wow!

I think it’s sad that most women will buy boring colors to suit “adult life”. I’m not like that! I will be girly till I’m old old old. Nothing makes me happier than really girly designs, pink, white, lace, it’s all so serene. Don’t sell out and act like you like boring stuff just to fit in with all those other women who are so drab!! They are just trying to conform to how they think they should be, but be yourself! Just because you’ve aged doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy lighter, feminine touches anymore! Why settle for boring when it can be so pretty and make you feel alive. :)

I couldn’t agree more! I am so glad that you aren’t afraid of color as many adults are. I just redesigned my guest bedroom in pink and green, and all that is girly. It isn’t ready for the big reveal yet, but close. I absolutely love it! Thanks for your comment; keep them coming.

Hi, I realize I am not in your area to use your services but wanted to ask if you would be so kind to share the paint color of the bedroom with the caption “more sophisticated pre-teen or teenager. From the canopy bed and sheers, to the pale pink walls and white bedding”

It’s a light pink and I can’t seem to find the right fit after some time of doing research.

I would greatly appreciate it! It would be a life saver

Thanks ahead for your time! Paola

      Paola,

Let me see if and I will get back to you…ok? It is late here (10pm) and I am not in the office, but I will do my best to look into it over the weekend and get back to you. I can’t do it tomorrow as I have a design review with a client, but will do my best over the weekend. Thanks for the comment. Keep them coming!

      Paola,

I hope this helps you find the right pink…after searching, I found the color is White Dogwood by Sherwin Williams. It was featured on this blog.

I love the white room with the turquoise headboard! I am designing my daughter’s bedroom and would love to see the source or the decorator or even different pictures of the same room. Do you have any idea where I could find these?

Thank you for your beautiful web site! It has been an inspiration!

Hi! I’m Lexi! I’m 12. My family and me might be moving soon and I LOVE the purple and green bathroom. I was wondering whhere I could get the supplies (tile, cabnets, sink, doors, etc.) to re-create the bathroom on a smaller scale. Thanks.

      Hi Lexi,
Thanks so much for checking out our blog. I don’t blame you for loving that bathroom. I wish I were your age so that I could get away with a pink and green bathroom, but for now I have to stick to more traditional hues. But, for you, go for it! Below is a link to apartmenttherapy’s blog that will give you insight into all the vendors and will even give you more inspiration bathrooms to consider: Let me know what you think once you check out the sight and best of luck in redesigning your own bathroom once you move.
